check-mark-11

I have two things I accomplished by Friday this week:

  • All of the quilting on my Botanical UFO is FINISHED!
  • I completed piecing all of the curves on my Judy Niemeyer Eclipse UFO.

I love this Finished for Friday concept I got from Lit and Laundry.  I still like weekly goals and stash reporting on Sunday but there is just something about Friday.  We usually go to the gym on Saturday mornings and I think it helps me stay motivated (and not want to stay home and sew) if I know I’ve wrapped up what I was working on Friday afternoon.  Just a theory – besides I really like checking things off lists.  I’ve been known to add things to my To Do List just so I can check them as finished!

check-mark-1I have two things that I managed to get done this week – only one quilting related.  The first of course is the quilting on the super top-secret project.  It will go off to the “binder” tomorrow.  I’m relatively pleased with my work although of course it isn’t as good as I would like.  I do wish I had more time to do additional SID (stitching in the ditch.) I had forgotten the trials and tribulations of machine quilting a large quilt free motion without benefit of a long-arm frame.  I’ve asked my husband to build me an extension for off the back of my quilting table.  That would definitely of helped with this project.

Secondly, I got all of the Christmas decorations put away and the house vacuumed.  I really shouldn’t take credit for this Finish since my hubby took down all of the outside decorations earlier this week and he did all of the vacuuming except for my sewing room.  I really only spent a couple of hours boxing and cleaning – with his help.  Though, we tried to keep it simple this year so there weren’t that many decorations out and the tree had been down since last week.

My friend JoAnne was coming over to sew today and I wanted to have the house presentable!  Knowing I had all of that to do probably contributed to the stress of the super top-secret quilting project!  I enjoyed my day with JoAnne, as always.  She is a lot of fun to spend time with, whether we sew or just talk.  I really should take pictures of what she is working on when we get together because she does not post many, if any, photos of her work on her own Blog and she does wonderful work!
