I’m still not making great progress getting anything finished, but at least things seems to be looking up a bit.  I read my friend Pat’s blog and she just finishes and finishes and finishes all of these beautiful quilts and other projects!  Check out her site for some great inspiration and links to other wonderful sites . . .

I do have a lot of extra fabric in my house right now.  I am co-Community Service Chairman and we got a large donation of fabric.  But, this isn’t mine so I’m not reporting it.  I may set some of it aside (but not in my stash) for me to make Community Service/donation quilts with but I won’t mix it –  I’ll have to be extra careful not to report it when I do use it up!

This will probably be my last report for awhile.  We are heading out on the road and I don’t expect any of my projects to actually get to the point of being interesting enough to report.

I had a reasonably productive week except for a miserable failure with my Tote Bag Project.  I just have not done enough of these to be able to visualize properly in three dimensions.  If I were exactly following a pattern that would be one thing but I was trying to modify the size and design slightly and it didn’t work out.  I’ve put it away for a little while.  It may just have to go without a zipper or I might never get it done!

  • Fabric in:         0 Yard
  • Fabric used:    5  Yards
  • Fabric donated:    20 Yards (donated)
  • Total Fabric out:   24  Yards
  • Net Fabric this week:      -24 Yards
  • Net Fabric year to date:  -33 and 3/4 Yards

I heard of a place that takes any kind of fabric donations, sells it by the pound, and uses the money for charity.  At one time I bought a lot of fabric to make rugs out of and it isn’t really suitable for quilts.  I never could figure out how to make the rugs from the pattern and instructions.  At Retreat, I had a friend show me how she does them.  It was very helpful but made me realize that I probably wasn’t ever going to make a rag rug and most of the fabric I bought wasn’t going to work anyway.  I’m glad to no longer have that project taking up space in my closet!

Progress:

  • Completed piecing Football Rag Quilt
  • Finished Baby Pinwheel Quilt
  • Made a Yoga Bag (and used it!)

  • Finish Quilting 9-patches on Green & Red Strip Quilt
  • Nip and Wash Football Rag Quilt
  • Cut fabric for more green and yellow blocks
  • Baste Old Quilt (masculine) for hand quilting
